Unique hotel within a cool city. It has nice views from the rooftop restaurant but we’d recommend making a reservation or coming on a week day. The room sizes were a little weird, with a closet the size of the small bathroom, and a shower you can barely stick your elbows out in to wash your hair. We also had a hard time keeping the water temperature consistent. Nice for a short stay where you only need to shower once. There are also random steps everywhere in the halls, so if you need accessibility, make sure you mark that in your reservation. I would also recommend calling ahead to drive in suitcases for the ZTL. You will have to park offside either at the train station parking or somewhere else you can find.

Location and cleanliness were impeccable. The hotel seems very new unlike what we have experienced so far in Italy. Room leans towards small size but the facilities are new and modern so that makes up for the comfort. Staff were also very helpful and friendly.
2 stars off for very loud noises in the morning. Poor sound insulation. We could hear everything, from metals clinking to trucks reversing and beeping. We were not made aware that there’d be construction going on outside and for the price we paid, it should have been managed much better.

A really lovely Marriott Autograph collection hotel. Awesome location. Food is as expected. Staff and service are top notch. Gym, for a hotel, is fine and good.
It’s a historic hotel, which comes with the typical historic hotel room size, smallish. The room is well appointed and has what you need.
Special shout out for the rooftop bar – it has an incredible view – and super romantic after dark.
Also noteworthy is the “experience” offerings the hotel emailed a few weeks before arriving. In my 30+ years of Marriott patronage, this hotel’s readiness for guests is superior.

Had a 2 night stay here mid-May.
The property itself seemed to be really nicely kept, breakfast area was nice, the spread and the made to order coffee was also great. The common areas of the hotel was very clean and well decorated, especially the lobby area.
However, some of the service side of the hotel were disappointing:
– Ordered room service for dinner (pasta + burger), told it was to take 20 minutes, nothing for 40 minutes, so I called down, they tell me it is on the way.. ended up arriving 1 hour from ordering. No apologies for the whole encounter.
– As we had a morning train to catch at Lucca station, and with rain in the forecast, on the night before I messaged the front desk via chat to book a taxi for checkout. I was told that it was unnecessary and to let them know 15 min prior to departure.
So on checkout, I went 20 min earlier to call a taxi and checkout.. only to hear they aren’t able to find any available taxis, and the next available one would be 30 min+.. It was pouring outside, otherwise we would have just walked the 10 minutes to the station.
In the end, we ended up taking the taxi 45 minutes late and all the way to Viareggio to catch up to the train that we missed from Lucca.
So overall, the property is nice, but it seems there is a service problem with some of the staff.. breakfast staff were delightful, the associate trying to call the taxi for me was doing her best.. Room service and the person who responded to my chat message doesn’t really seem to care much..
I reached out after my stay, and was told the taxi issue was out of their control and took no accountability. No apologies for either of the issues, just the deadpan “regret that your expectations were not met”.
So much potential for a great stay, but ruined with easily recoverable issues.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property sets a gold standard for excellence.
The cleanliness was impeccable throughout the entire hotel, and our spacious room felt like a true sanctuary. After a long day of exploring, returning to such a comfortable bed was exactly what we needed. The location is also unbeatable—perfectly situated to make getting around effortless.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the staff. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, offering the kind of personalized service that is rare to find. Their helpfulness and attention to detail made us feel incredibly valued.
We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Five stars all the way!
