Hotel NH Genova Centro

We only stayed at NH Genova City Centre for one night, but it was a stay we won’t forget.

The biggest reason was Paola at the reception. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us with such a warm smile and made us feel genuinely cared for. She was incredibly kind, helpful, and took the time to talk with us. As a lovely surprise, she upgraded us to a Junior Suite free of charge, which made our trip feel even more special.

She also recommended places to visit in Santa Margherita and gave us great tips about the area. We followed her advice and ended up having one of the best days of our holiday. It really showed that she wanted us to have the best possible experience, not just at the hotel but during our trip as well.

Thank you, Paola, for your kindness and for making us feel so welcome. People like you make all the difference. We truly hope to come back one day, and if we do, we hope to see you again!

We stayed 6 nights at the NH hotel Genoa Centro. Overall it was not a bad experience, but several seemingly little things added up to a less favourable review.
First, the pros:
Location – its close to almost all the major attractions and major train station
Room – the room itself is spacious and cleanliness is adequate
Then the cons:
Room – There is some major design flaws in our room, but the solution that was put in place seems like an afterthought. Our room has big windows in both the room and bathroom(but look out to the staircase of the back of the building) which creates challenges to layout. In the bedroom, we ended up with a TV smaller than an average computer monitor. In the bathroom, the shower stall was very small even though the room itself is big. I suggest they place a bigger TV on the wall above the closet space. (see photo). The washroom stall is not only small, but the floor is tilted so that the water flows down to the drain. But that slight slope may cause a feeling of unevenness to guests, and especially not good for people with vertigo problem, because you constantly try to balance yourself inside the small shower. Also, there is major water damage on the bottom of the shower stall and the door frame. I am usually quite lenient with small cracks and imperfection at hotels, but I think this one requires maintenance ASAP (see photo). Also, the central lighting system is one of the most difficult one to figure out, there is not only a time delay, but some fixtures seems not to properly connect to the central control, and there is a lack of central lighting.
The fridge made humming noise all through our stay, all through the nights. It went on and stopped briefly and went on again. At the end we got so used to these noises, it became white noise. I do not think all guests will tolerate them.
Services – We are not looking for a warm and fuzzy welcome from the reception staff. But we did find the reception staff demeanor to be less than enthusiastic, similar to comments made by other guests.

Opting for Hotel NH Genova Centro is one of the best decision I have made recently.
The central location of the property made my sojourn in Genova memorable.
The room was comfortable as expected.
