Where to stay.
We are not recommending a personally tested hotel in Naples here, but we have checked options online and found one that appears promising for travelers looking for a more comfortable stay.
Is it intense?
This itinerary is moderate. Naples is full of movement and energy, so even short distances can feel intense, but the route is realistic for a 2-day trip.
Day One: Historic Naples, street life, and pizza.
Start your first day in the historic center of Naples, one of the city’s most memorable areas. Walk through Spaccanapoli, explore the narrow streets, and take in the churches, food shops, and local energy that make Naples feel completely different from anywhere else in Italy.
This is also the perfect day to try classic Neapolitan pizza and enjoy the city as much through its atmosphere as through its major sights.
If you want one paid experience on day one, a walking tour, street food tour, or local history tour can be a good choice, but many travelers also enjoy simply spending the first day exploring Naples itself.
Suggested use: Naples city experience, Vesuvius option, or a flexible day activity.
On day two: Seafront Naples or a trip to Pompeii.
On your second day, you can choose between staying in Naples or taking a short and famous side trip. If you stay in the city, enjoy the waterfront, Castel dell’Ovo area, and elegant streets closer to the sea.
If you want a more iconic excursion, Pompeii is one of the easiest and most memorable choices from Naples. It fits very naturally into a 2-day trip and gives a completely different historical experience.
This second day adds balance to the trip, either with views, sea air, and slower city moments, or with one of the most famous archaeological sites in Italy.
Suggested use: Pompeii and Herculaneum day trip, archaeology, or classic Campania experience.
A hotel option for this Naples trip.
We have not personally tested this Naples hotel, but based on our online review of available options, it appears to be one of the better-looking choices for travelers who want a more comfortable stay.
Don't forget the schedule.
This quick Naples weekend is only a short introduction to Campania. If you want more time, you can continue toward Pompeii, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, or even combine Naples with Rome on a longer itinerary.
